Bricycles calls for a switch from funding expensive, damaging road schemes to investment in walking, cycling and public transport which bring massive public health benefits.
We are in a consultation process about upgrading the A27 East of Lewes. There are also proposals for upgrades to the route of the A27 at Arundel, Chichester and Worthing.
Bricycles is a member of SCATE the South Coast Alliance for Transport and the Environment who are challenging new roadbuilding on the A27/A259.
A bad example
The Bexhill Hastings Link Road (left, in construction) cost £110M but has no cycle lanes or advanced stop lines (shown below). There was a lot of opposition to putting this unnecessary road through a formerly tranquil East Sussex valley by the Campaign for Better Transport (objections here) the Hastings Alliance website and the Combe Haven Defenders.
