Brighton Mitre Cycling Club was founded in 1894 and aims to promote all aspects of cycling.
Every first and third Sunday of the month it hosts “Sunday Steady” (14-16mph) and “Sunday Social” (12-14mph) rides. They are open to non-members and people are normally expected to join the club after attending two rides as a non-member.
The “Sunday Social” rides keep the pace between 12mph and 14mph and between 20 and 30 miles long. Expect hills but you won’t be left behind because someone, or the entire group, will always drop back for you.
The “Sunday Steady” rides are faster, at between 14mph and 16mph and between 30 and 40 miles long. Again, expect hills but, as above, you won’t be left behind because someone, or the entire group, will always drop back for you.
Road bikes (dropped handlebars) are recommended as you might struggle to keep up on a hybrid or mountain bike.
