Requested improvements

One way streets for two way cycling: Hollingdean Lane, Thompson Road, Popes Folly, Freehold Terrace, Hollingbury Rise West, Hollingdean Lane.

Review Coldean Lane junction with Ditchling Road.

Redesign Fiveways junction to assist cycling and walking, reducing huge area of tarmac.

Improve the cycle lanes on Ditchling Road. Stop obstructive and verge parking by school traffic and many others. Reduce speed limit from National Speed Limit to 40 mph as traffic exits the City and liaise with ESCC to build on-road protected cycle lanes. This was once part of the plan at this location. (Also Preston Park ward.)

Better access via Queensdown School Road and Crespin Way to Moulsecoomb Station and Lewes Road

Improve the hazardous and unpleasant Hollingdean Road and Upper Hollingdean Road for cycling with side entry treatments, resurfacing and parking restrictions. Consider traffic reduction as area under rail bridge dangerous for cyclists and pedestrians.

Create cycle route from Hollingdean Road to Ditchling Road via Hollingdean Lane or Upper Hollingdean Road.

Separation from traffic in Hollingbury Place “the Dip”.

Cycle lanes up Coldean Lane. Traffic very fast and threatening.

Liaise with Local Access Forum re progress on off-road provision of cycle route to Ditchling Beacon.

Temporary cycle lane protected with wands or similar while Lewes Road developments continue. Generally, more care taken to protect cyclists at roadworks and developments so that they can continue to ride.

Maintenance of twitten to Roedale Valley allotments from Ditchling Road: sweeping leaves, dealing with mud and holes.

Widening and improvement of cycle route in front of U of S.

Liaise with ESCC re improvement (widening, greater distance from traffic) on route from Falmer to Lewes.
