The Local Transport Plan consultation takes place from 1 November to 10 December 2010. The LTP is a crucial document setting out the council’s plans and intentions regarding transport so worth registering your views, which is easily done through their website.
The new LTP will set out how the council plans to maintain and improve the city’s transport network for everybody by looking ahead to 2026. The overall objectives will aim to deliver transport improvements that increase our safety, security and health, support our local economy, protect our environment, promote equality and reduce carbon emissions. The new LTP will also help to ensure that the city can adequately cope with changes in the future, such as the planned growth in new local housing and job opportunities that are outlined in the council’s Local Development Framework Core Strategy. The new plan needs to be in place by April 2011.
