Starting out from Esher College in Surrey, along with 1,400 other
riders, the team tackled the scenic 60 mile journey back down to
Brighton & Hove. The fund raising effort saw Epic sponsor the team its entry fee and match the amount raised by staff members. The riders finished in a range of times between five and six and a half hours.
The ride was organised by one of the UK’s leading children and family
services charities, Norwood, and raised funds for four partner
charities; Norwood, Sparks, the Down’s Syndrome Association and
Southern FM’s Help A Local Child.
Richard Jones, Epic’s Finance Director, who also took part in the event, said: “Amounts
pledged are still going up but we currently stand at around £3,400, which will be worth over £4,000 to the charities when gift aid is added. I think this is a staggering amount. It was great to be part of such a big team effort and a brilliant day was had by all.”
