Volunteers needed for Holland event

CSS (who manage cycle rides for a number
of charities)  are appealing to members of
Bricycles who would like to come to Holland to help us
in  September 2009. The ride is called Tour pour la Mer and raises
funds for the Mission to Seafarers – so in the best seafaring tradition you
would be asked to ”work your passage”.

You will be paid expenses to organise
your  own transport and to take bicycles. This will presumably in
some cases be cars/bike racks but if you can manage without a car, please do –
it is just a matter of organising reliable logistics.

The task is to marshal on a fund-raising
event for the Mission. The base for this will be in Rotterdam and the
riders will go to Antwerp on day 1 (returning overnight) and to Amsterdam on
day 2 (ditto).

CSS, on behalf of the charity,  can
offer the cost of transport, ferries, and a reasonable budget/allowance for
accommodation/subsistence. Volunteers will be welcome to stay on at their own
cost, after the event, taking a ferry/train/flying home later.

Our target at the moment is about a
dozen volunteers. You should expect to get to the area for the
evening of Wednesday September 23, and to be ”off duty” by the end of
Saturday 26 September. If you can organise a group to go together with you,
that will make it easier for us but it is not essential so if you want to
volunteer on your own, please feel free to do so.

Please don’t forget that
this is 2009 – not this year!

CSS have done two large events for the
Mission, one went to France in 2006 and the other was in Hampshire last year.
They pull in a fantastic range of people from all over the world of shipping –
take a look at the PDF for a flavour.
