Wide load causes traffic chaos

unusual load, destined for the new waste transfer station, caused traffic chaos in Hollingdean Road at about
midday on Friday.

070817hollingdeanroad.jpgTraffic backed up around the Gyratory and on Ditchling
Road while the driver successfully negotiated his way under this
awkward railway bridge. When the new waste facility opens there will up to 66 articulated
lorry movements a day transferring sorted waste for recovery or
disposal – all going up and down Hollingdean Road. But don’t worry a detailed transport assessment has
shown that these increases can be accommodated with no
significant impact on the local highway network!
